Taking Turns
Taking Turns is a three-movement representation of the motion of turning.
• Wind Up, Wind Down depicts the fits and starts when cranking up an old gear-laden machine.
• Slow Turning reflects the gradual increase of intensity and anticipation as an object (or a person) turns toward another, ever-so-briefly reaching full face – only to continue a complete rotation.
• Spin speaks for itself as the two instruments spin and whirl through sinewy lines that expand upon the motives from the first movements in a rather perverse perpetuum mobile.
Taking Turns was commissioned by Duo Montagnard and is approximately 8’00’’ in duration.
