The FSU College of Music is pleased to present the guest artist recital of Charlie Young, saxophone and Pedro Alliprandini, clarinet at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2017 in room 060 of the Westcott Building. Works for the performance include selections by Lansing Mcloskey, Gregory Wanamaker, Ben Robichaux and others. Admission to this event is free and open to the public.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Charlie Young, a student of Dr. Connie Frigo, is pursuing a DMA in saxophone performance at the University of Georgia. With an MM in Woodwind Performance and Pedagogy, he is an avid performer of solo and chamber works on all woodwind instruments. His background in woodwind playing and comfort across genres has granted him appearances with the world-renowned Four Tops and the national touring company of the Broadway hit, Chicago. In 2016 Pedro was selected as a winner of the UGA Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, performing Martin\’s Ballade in January of 2017. In the spring of 2016 he appeared with the Nach Quartet as a national finalist in both the MTNA Chamber Music and NASA Quartet competitions.
Pedro Alliprandini is a Brazilian clarinetist. He holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Georgia where he is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree studying with Dr. D. Ray McClellan. In 2015 Pedro was selected as a winner of the UGA Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, performing Weber’s Concertino in February of 2016. Mr. Alliprandini is an active chamber and orchestral musician performing with The UGA Symphony Orchestra, Southern Wind Quintet and the UGA Contemporary Ensemble. He is a versatile musician interested in performing a variety of styles of music.
