I am excited to be a part of the XIX World Saxophone Congress in Las Palmas de Grand Canaria, which begins in just over a week – from 6 – 10 December 2023!
There are four performances of my music during this festival including the World Premiere of The Tragedy of Silence for alto saxophone, electric guitar, and fixed media enhanced with live electronics performed by the brilliant Thompson – Kasler Duo.
The Tragedy of Silence takes its title from the powerful speech by Dr. Joachim Prinz during the events at The March on Washington on 28 August 1963, when he stated:
“The most urgent, the most disgraceful, the most shameful and the most tragic problem is silence.”
The Tragedy of Silence was commissioned in 2023 by the Thompson-Kasler Duo (Bobbi Thompson, saxophone, and Ariel Kasler, electric guitar) with generous assistance from The University of Western Ontario.
